Our Mission & Vision

The mission of Milford Christian Church is to love God, to love others, and to magnify the name of Jesus Christ. The vision of our church is to glorify our God and Savior, Jesus Christ, to make true disciples throughout all the nations by means of missionary activity and support, to minister the ordinances, to edify believers, and to do all that is sovereignly possible and biblically permissible to magnify the name of Jesus.

Leadership Team:

Our leadership team recognizes the authority of God and realizes that we are shepherds who serve under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. We desire to devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the Word. Our passion and goal is to equip the believers for the work of the ministry until we all attain maturity in the fullness of Christ.

Who We Are and  What we believe:

We are Christians only, not the only Christians. We have no creed, but Christ; no book but the Bible; no law but Love; In non-essentials, we admit the largest liberty; On the essentials, we appeal to the New Testament as our rule for faith and practice.

We believe in God the Father.

Our prayers are modeled after how Jesus taught His disciples to pray: “Our FATHER in heaven, hallowed be your name. . ..” (Matthew 6:9-13)

We believe that God is a prayer-hearing and prayer-answering God.

“Therefore, since we have a great high priest….Jesus the Son of God….who is able to sympathize with our weaknesses, Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”     (Hebrews 4:14-16)

We regard the divine Lord Jesus Christ as the Central truth of Christianity.

“Jesus is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.  By Him all things were created. . . by Him and for Him.  He is before all things.  In Him all things hold together.  He is the head of the body, the church.  He is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything He might come to have the supremacy. “     (Colossians 1:15-18)

We believe in Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of the Living God, our Savior, who died upon the cross, shed His blood to forgive our sins, and rose up from the dead on the third day, displaying His power over death, hell and the grave, proving He is God.

“Every spiritual blessing we have comes through Christ.  We were chosen to be holy and blameless; in love we were adopted as God’s children; redeemed by His blood, have our sins forgiven, lavished with wisdom and understanding, that we might be for the praise of His glory (essence of His character).”  (Ephesians 1:3-12)

We believe in the Holy Spirit, both as the agent in conversion and as the dweller in the heart of the Christian.

“We have been sealed with the Holy Spirit who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until we are actually, really and finally redeemed as part of God’s own possession.”    (Eph. 1:13-14; Rom. 8:9-17)

We accept the Old and New Testaments as the inspired Word of God.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”  (2 Timothy 3:14-17)

We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death.  We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life.

“For YOU created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well…all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”    (Psalm 139:13-16)

We believe that God creates each person as male or female, and these complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God.

“Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over all the earth, and over all creatures that move along the ground.  So, God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”   (Genesis 1:26-27)

We believe that God created and sanctioned marriage between one man and one woman for life, which uniquely reflects Christ’s relationship with His church.  God created and sanctioned marriage to bring together one man and one woman, by joining them in “one-flesh” unions.  (Genesis 2:18-25)

                Read  Ephesians 5:21-33

We believe that only God-ordained marriage serves as the foundational unit of a stable society.  It provides the best chance that children will grow up in the same home with both their mom and their dad.  Over the last several decades, the general acceptance of sex outside of marriage and other sexual sins, including homosexual behavior, constitute direct attacks upon this timeless and universal institution.

“…since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband. The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband.”   (1 Corinthians 7:2)

We believe in the future punishment of the unsaved (Hell) & the future reward of the believer (Heaven).

Then I saw a great white throne and Him who was seated on it.  Earth and sky fled from His presence, and there was no place for them.  And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened.  Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.  The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done.  Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire.  The lake of fire is the second death.  If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.”  (Revelation 20:11-15)

We believe in ONE WAY to Heaven. . . .

That man has willfully sinned against God and is consequently lost & without hope apart from Jesus Christ.

Romans 3:23,  “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace

through  the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”

That salvation–the forgiveness of sins–is only by grace through the blood of Jesus Christ.

Romans 6:23,  “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

That we are saved by God’s grace through an active faith in His Son, Jesus Christ

Ephesians 2:8,9,  “that it is the gift of God, not something we earn or deserve” — so we can respond with gratitude, praise and joy through all eternity.”

That salvation is received by:

Hearing the word of Christ, “faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.”   (Romans 10:17)

Believing (placing faith) in Christ,  ” everyone who believes in Him may have eternal life.  For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”  (John 3:15-16)

Repenting of our sins “In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.  For He has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed.  He has given proof of this to all men by raising Him from the dead.”   (Acts  17:30-31)

Confessing Christ as Lord & Savior“…if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.  For, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”   (Romans 10:9,10, 13)

Being immersed (baptized) into the name of Jesus Christ.   “God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.  When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”  Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.  And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”   (Acts 2:36-38)     See also Rom. 6:3-4;  Gal. 3:26-27;  1 Peter 3:15-21;  Acts 8:26-39;  Acts 16:31-34]

Rising to walk in newness of life.  “Don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His  death?  We are therefore buried with Him (Christ) through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. . . because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.”  (Romans 6: 4, 7)

*This statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs.  The membership of Milford Christian Church is subject to the Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe.  And, for purposes of our members’ faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our board of Elders is Milford Christian Church’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
